It begins with listening.
Before we talk about greenery, ribbons or colours, I want to understand what you enjoy about your home and how you hope to feel in it over the holidays. You may have a clear vision, a collection of decorations you treasure, or simply a wish to make everything feel welcoming without knowing where to begin. There is room for all of that.
Perhaps you love a full house and a generously decorated tree. Perhaps a natural wreath and a few thoughtfully placed arrangements are what make the season feel right to you. Your preferences will guide the work we do together.
A thoughtful approach.
Every home has its own character. Its architecture, proportions, and colours all offer something to work with. I pay attention to those details, along with your personal taste, so that the seasonal elements feel at home in your surroundings.
That might mean drawing on the warmth of an older home, complementing clean, contemporary lines, or finding a place for a much-loved piece you bring out every December. I want you to feel that your home has been understood, and that the result reflects you. Respect for your home and your time is part of the service from our first conversation through to the finishing touches.
Feeling comfortable throughout the process
Open communication and transparency matter to me. We’ll talk through the ideas, the scope and the pricing so you understand what is being proposed and what to expect. If you have questions, I want you to feel comfortable asking them.
My hope is that working together feels warm and familiar: someone who remembers your preferences, takes your concerns seriously and puts thought into the details. You deserve to feel listened to and cared for throughout the experience.
Natural elements, chosen with care
A love of nature shapes much of what I create. I work mostly with natural and organic elements, bringing together greenery, branches and textures that offer their own colour, movement and character.
Respect for the environment also informs those choices. Part of the creative process is considering what you already own and enjoy, and how it might become part of the setting we create. A treasured ornament or a beautiful vessel can give an arrangement a connection to your home that something newly purchased might never have.
More room to enjoy the season
Ultimately, seasonal styling is about what you get to enjoy once everything is in place.
It’s the pleasure of arriving home to a welcoming entrance. Seeing the tree lit in the evening. Having friends over and feeling ready to receive them. Or enjoying a quiet morning with coffee in a room that makes you happy.
Through Ames & Holt, I hope to make preparing your home feel easier and more enjoyable, with thoughtful attention to both the surroundings and the person who lives there.
As I build this local business in York Region, I hope those relationships grow beyond a single season. Getting to know your home, remembering the details you love and being someone you feel comfortable welcoming back—that is the kind of service I want to offer.
The art of welcoming begins with how you are treated.
At Ames & Holt, I want you to experience that care from the very beginning.
